Fourplex

Careers

Build calmer communities with us.

Fourplex is a small team solving the real operational work of running a self-managed HOA — dues, water submetering, compliance, and the day-to-day admin that volunteer boards weren't meant to carry alone. We're a tiny, technical team: two open roles today, a modern TypeScript stack, and a founder who still reads every support email personally.

Why join us

Volunteer board members do this work nights and weekends. The software should not make it harder.

Fourplex is still small enough that every hire changes what gets built next. There's no backlog of someone else's decisions to inherit — the two people who join this year will help decide how the product handles compliance, utility billing, and the next few years of the roadmap.

You'll also see your work land immediately. There's no multi-team handoff between building a feature and a board member using it — most weeks, that gap is a single deploy.

We're building for communities that enterprise software forgot: four-unit buildings, twelve-unit co-ops, places too small for a management company but too complex for a spreadsheet. It's unglamorous, real infrastructure work, and it matters to the people who use it.

How we work

Four things to expect day to day.

No layers of process, no dedicated product team to hand decisions to — just a small group shipping to real communities every week.

01

Small by design

Founder-led and intentionally lean. Decisions happen in a conversation, not a chain of approvals.

02

AI-assisted, not AI-first

Claude and Cursor are part of the daily workflow — schema changes and queries move fast, but a person reviews everything that ships.

03

Close to the customer

Everyone — including engineering — spends time with real boards and homeowners. Requests come from support threads, not a roadmap in a vacuum.

04

Hybrid, Seattle-based

We work together in Seattle part of the week and heads-down the rest. Plan to be local or open to relocating.

How we build

The stack, exactly as it runs today.

No trend-chasing rewrite risk — this is pulled straight from our internal engineering docs, not a recruiting page's aspirational list.

Full Stack Software Engineer

Seattle, WA · HybridFull-time

Build thoughtful, web-first tools that make the everyday work of running a small community calmer and more reliable. You'll work across the entire stack — schema to shipped UI — on a team small enough that your code reaches real HOA boards within days.

What you’ll do
  • Ship full-stack features across Next.js, tRPC, and Supabase — from a Drizzle migration to the UI a board member clicks
  • Write and maintain Row Level Security policies that keep every HOA's data isolated at the database layer
  • Build background jobs in Trigger.dev for OCR processing, compliance reminders, and inbound mail parsing
  • Work directly with the founder on product direction — there's no separate product team to hand decisions to
  • Use AI-assisted tooling (Claude, Supabase MCP) as a core part of how we build, with a human reviewing everything that ships
What we’re looking for
  • 2–3+ years of professional experience building production web applications
  • Comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from database schema to shipped interface
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript, Postgres, and a type-safe API layer (tRPC, GraphQL, or similar)
  • A bias toward simple, well-tested solutions over speculative abstraction
Nice to have
  • Experience with Supabase, Drizzle, or a similar type-safe ORM
  • Familiarity with background job systems (Trigger.dev, Inngest, BullMQ)
  • Interest in vertical SaaS, fintech, or proptech

Customer Success

Seattle, WA · HybridFull-time

Help new Fourplex HOAs get set up with confidence, then build trusted relationships with the homebuilders and communities we support. You'll be the first real person a new board talks to — and often the reason they stay.

What you’ll do
  • Personally onboard new HOA boards, including hands-on setup sessions for dues, billing, and compliance tracking
  • Own the first line of support for board members and homeowners — clear answers, fast follow-through
  • Build relationships with the homebuilders and developers who refer new communities to Fourplex
  • Track recurring onboarding and support questions, and feed patterns back to product and engineering
  • Help write and keep the help center current as features ship
What we’re looking for
  • Experience guiding customers through onboarding, implementation, or ongoing account management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — comfortable explaining software to volunteer boards who aren't technical
  • Organized, detail-oriented follow-through across many accounts running in parallel
  • Comfortable in a tiny team where support, product feedback, and customer research all overlap
Nice to have
  • Experience with HOAs, property management, or homebuilding
  • Familiarity with support or CRM tooling
  • Interest in helping define the customer success function from its first hire
